What we do
Driveways, patios and the details around them.
From block-paving and natural-stone driveways to patios, turfing, fencing, decking and brickwork — Guildford Landscapes has covered the lot across Guildford and Surrey since 2015, as approved installers for Natural Paving, Tobermore and Stonemarket.

01Service
Driveways
A driveway takes more punishment than any surface in the garden, so the base under it matters more than the finish on top. We run our own plant machinery to excavate and consolidate the sub-base properly, then lay block paving, gravel, tarmac or resin — using Marshalls, Brett and Castercrete blocks and, as approved installers, Natural Paving, Tobermore and Stonemarket ranges. Edged to hold, set to drain, and finished to a standard clients call excellent: an 80m² block-paving drive is the sort of job we complete in around five days.

02Service
Patios
A patio sets the frame for the whole garden, so it has to sit level and drain properly. We lay Indian sandstone, limestone and porcelain — Raj Green, Harvest Buff, Grey Natural Stone and Camel Buff among the finishes clients choose — to falls, with edges cut clean and joints done right. Built to look good and stay put through Surrey winters, not to lift and rock after the first frost.

03Service
Turfing & Lawns
A lawn is only as good as the ground it goes on. We prepare and level the base, then lay quality natural turf so it roots and establishes evenly — or fit artificial grass where a low-maintenance, all-year finish matters more. Either way the groundwork underneath is done with the same care as our driveways, so you get a lawn that stays flat and true rather than lumpy and patchy.

04Service
Fencing
Boundaries frame how a garden looks and feels. We install closeboard, lap-panel, picket, post-and-rail and composite fencing — posts set firm so they hold in Surrey clay and wind, lines run straight, and the style chosen to suit the property it frames. A new fence line is often the quickest way to smarten up a whole plot.

05Service
Decking
A deck turns an awkward or sloping corner into somewhere you actually use. We frame timber and composite decking on properly set posts so it stays level and safe underfoot, cut cleanly around steps and boundaries, and choose timber for warmth or composite where low upkeep matters most — sized to suit the garden rather than dropped in as an afterthought.

06Service
Brickwork
The brick and stone details are what make hard landscaping read as one considered scheme rather than a set of separate jobs. We build garden walls, edging courses, steps, raised planters and gate pillars — laid true, pointed neatly and tied into the driveway or patio they border. It's the attention to detail in these smaller elements that clients say really shows.
Materials & finishes
Chosen to last, not just to look good on day one.
Good landscaping is as much about the base you don't see as the surface you do. Here is what we tend to reach for, and why.
Driveway blocks & paving
Marshalls, Brett and Castercrete blocks, plus the Natural Paving, Tobermore and Stonemarket ranges we are approved installers for — laid to drain, edged to hold, and finished to the manufacturer’s spec.
Natural stone & porcelain
Indian sandstone, limestone and porcelain for patios — Raj Green, Harvest Buff, Grey Natural Stone and Camel Buff among them — laid to falls so water runs off, not back toward the house.
Timber & composite decking
Decking framed on properly set posts so it stays level and safe underfoot — timber for warmth, composite where low upkeep matters most.
A proper sub-base, dug by our own plant
The part you never see once the job is done. We run our own fleet of machinery to excavate and consolidate the base properly — because that base is what makes a driveway or patio last.
How it works
Site visit, groundwork, clean finish.
01
Site visit & quote
Darren comes out, measures the drive or garden, looks at access, levels and drainage, and talks through the materials — block paving, gravel, resin or natural stone. Then we put a clear, itemised, no-obligation quote to it. As our reviews put it, communication is smooth and efficient, and the prices are fair and competitive.
02
Groundwork & build
Our own plant machinery does the excavation and sub-base properly before a single block is laid. One team carries the build — driveway, patio, lawn, fencing or decking — working tidy and to a high standard from start to finish. An 80m² block-paving driveway, for instance, is the sort of job we complete in around five days.
03
Clean finish & handover
Edges cut clean, joints filled, the site left clean and clear — clients single out that we're professional, reliable and clean from start to finish. We walk the finished job with you, and because we've traded here since 2015, we're not hard to find if you ever need us back.
Before you call
Questions we're asked most.
Do you charge for a site visit or quote?
No. Darren comes out, measures up, looks at access and drainage, and puts a clear, itemised, no-obligation quote to it. Our reviews call the process smooth and efficient and the prices fair and competitive — with no pressure to go ahead.
What does being an approved installer actually mean for me?
We're approved installers for Natural Paving, Tobermore and Stonemarket. Manufacturers only approve installers whose workmanship meets their standard, so it's independent recognition that the paving is laid to spec — the finish, falls and base done properly, which is what protects the surface long-term.
Do I need planning permission for a new driveway?
For most front driveways you won't, provided the surface is permeable or drains to a border or soakaway rather than onto the road. Block paving, gravel and resin can all meet this. If your project is larger or the drainage is awkward, we'll flag it at the quote stage.
How long does a driveway take?
It depends on size and groundwork, but as a guide an 80m² block-paving driveway is the sort of job we complete in around five days. We'll give you a realistic timescale with your quote and keep the site tidy throughout.
What paving and materials do you use?
Marshalls, Brett and Castercrete blocks plus the Natural Paving, Tobermore and Stonemarket ranges for driveways; Indian sandstone, limestone and porcelain — Raj Green, Harvest Buff, Grey Natural Stone, Camel Buff — for patios. We'll bring samples and talk through what suits your house.
Do you do the groundwork yourselves?
Yes — we run our own fleet of plant machinery rather than hiring it in, so the excavation, sub-base and levels are dug, consolidated and set right by our own team. On a driveway especially, that base is what determines whether the surface lasts.
Not sure which surface suits?
That's what the free site visit is for. Darren will measure up, talk through the material options, and put a clear, itemised price to it — no obligation.
